講義概要
(演習Ⅰ~Ⅳ)
This seminar will take a holistic and eclectic approach to studying about and exploring the world we live in. This seminar will embrace many themes and involve several analytic methods in an effort to explore, study, understand and enjoy language, cultural and the wonders of the world around us. For example some of the topics that may be discussed are education, politics, economics, world cultures, festivals, Japan, food culture, travel, tourism, travel writing, sharing your experiences and sharing your own culture, anything and everything. This class will be taught in English but students are welcome to express themselves in Japanese.

  • the range of Englishes in the world
  • dialects and cultures of English,

  • cultural and geographic wonders of the world,

  • economics and politics—being a global citizen.
講義方法 The instructor will utilize multimedia resources including the Internet, films and television programs to explain points discussed in class. Students will be asked to participate in and sometimes lead class discussions. Students will be encouraged to pursue their own interests and share about them. To this end, each week students contribute to class discussion by expressing their ideas and bringing an article to talk about.
成績評価の方法 Participation and work ethic (30%), Weekly articles and monthly reports (30%), Semester reports (40%).
