Studying at the oldest Buddhist University in Japan can be a life-changing experience. Increasing globalization of information and economics make knowledge and experience in a different culture now a must.
Ryukoku University is now one of the leading private universities in Japan. There are presently 9 faculties, 20,000 students, several research institutes and centers on two campuses in Kyoto and one in Seta(Shiga Prefecture), next to Kyoto. The Faculty of Intercultural Communication (FIC) was established in 1996 on the Seta campus,close to Japanese largest lake Biwa.
The Japanese and Asian Studies (JAS) Program at Ryukoku University offers students with little or no Japanese background a unique opportunity to study Japanese and Asian culture, including: Buddhism and other Asian religions, Japanese literature, theater, society, economics and politics. All classes taught in English on Seta campus and some classes with Japanese students.

| ●Accommodation Ryukoku University offers an off-campus dormitory for 35,000yen/month, excluding meals, in Seta, Shiga.

| ●Travel and Miscellaneous Each student is responsible for his/her own travel expense to and from Japan.
Miscellaneous expenses will vary according to personal needs and style. It includes food, transportation, medical, laundry, clothes, commuting (cell-phone) and other personal expenses.
