Seoyoung Choi is a Lecturer of International Relations at the Department of Global Studies of the Faculty of International Studies in Ryukoku University, Japan. Her research centers on decolonial feminist International Relations theory and methodology, with particular focus on disappeared people, the migration and diasporic experiences of children and women, transnational adoption in postcolonial Korea and postcolonial France, translation, and colonial amnesia. Her current projects involve engaging sonic approaches to global politics, translating Black (feminist) thought through and in East Asia, and connecting different parts of East Asia through the stories and languages of women and children in US military camptowns. These works explore stories, storytelling, and translation as ways of making sense of global politics and as methods for re-mapping the international against colonial violence. Her most recent articles have been published in the Korean Journal of International Relations (2025), Korean Journal of International Studies (2025), and Asian Journal of Women's Studies (2024). She is Associate Editor of Political Studies Review (2025-2028) and International Feminist Journal of Politics (2026-2029). She is also Contrapuntal Review Editor of Pluriversal International Relations (2026-2029).
