Education: Completed a Master's degree at Harvard University (MA in Middle Eastern Studies). Completed a PhD in Law at Keio University and Ryukoku University.
Work history: After working as a specialist researcher at the Embassy of Japan in Iran and a specialist analyst at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he is now a professor at Ryukoku University's Faculty of International Studies. He has lived in Turkey and served as a visiting researcher at Ankara University.
Currently conducting comparative research on Islamic mystical thought, primarily that of Rumi, with Buddhism and Christianity. He also utilizes methods from comparative religion to study the modern and contemporary Middle Eastern situation.
