Dr. Kasumi Susaki (Dr. of Engineering) graduated from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Kasumi Susaki is a female engineering major, and this means she is a minority in the Department of International Studies.

Dr.Susaki’s laboratory focuses on the environments in which people live. In particular, we have been dealing with the planning of inclusive environments for children, older adults, women, gender minorities, and people with disabilities. Recently, she has been conducting research on disaster response and evacuation for people living with companion animals, which has not been covered in Japan, and reviewing the living environment of the city from the perspective of women.

Most students in Kasumi’s lab are dealing with the matter of public transportation under a declining birthrate and aging population, revitalization of areas with declining populations, inclusive design of urban areas, and SDG-related issues
