Doctoral Degree Program - Department of Global Studies

The department aims to develop human resources capable of comprehensively and critically understanding various issues facing today’s international community in the midst of rapid globalization from a wide range of perspectives; presenting solutions on the international stage using advanced expertise and foreign language skills; and contributing to the creation of an affluent society as highly specialized professionals and researchers.

Curriculum Features

Through seminars, students will not only further deepen their specialized knowledge but also accumulate broad academic studies that will enable them to approach a set theme using multifaceted and interdisciplinary perspectives, with a focus on the humanities.
Students will make presentations at conferences and research meetings within and outside the Graduate School, communicate with researchers from Japan and overseas, and build various skills necessary to become independent researchers in the future.
In the “PhD Research Seminar,” first-year students will learn the skills and methods necessary to effectively publicize their research results and cultivate the ability to become an independent researcher.
Students will take seminars from the first year and, with the advice and guidance of their principal and deputy supervisors, develop their ability to analyze and examine their own research theme and prepare a doctoral thesis.
