Doctoral Degree Program - Department of Intercultural Communication

The department aims to develop human resources capable of critically examining new phenomena and issues facing today’s increasingly interdependent world from a cultural perspective; presenting solutions on the international stage using advanced expertise and foreign language skills; and contributing to the creation of a multicultural society as highly specialized professionals and researchers.

Curriculum Features

Through seminars, students will not only further deepen their specialized knowledge but also accumulate broad academic studies that will enable them to approach a set theme using multifaceted and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Students will make presentations at conferences and research meetings within and outside the Graduate School, communicate with researchers from Japan and overseas, and build various skills necessary to become independent researchers in the future.
Students will learn to develop unique perspectives on the scope and methodology of the research in order to make an academic contribution to issues that have not been fully elucidated by previous research.
Students will take seminars from the first year and, with the advice and guidance of their principal and deputy supervisors, develop their ability to analyze and examine their own research theme and prepare a doctoral thesis.
